Lyla Cansfield

Hi, I am Lyla, and success with horses comes from understanding and connection.
I specialise in providing a unique blend of horsemanship principles alongside sensitively applied traditional ground and ridden techniques for riders of any discipline to achieve transformational results with their horses.
I believe that horses are happier and will respond better to training in any sphere when they understand your expectations and you understand theirs.
To date, over 10,000 riders have been through my Spooky Horses 5 Day Free Challenge, which offers a unique approach to resolving spooky or unpredictable behaviour in your horse.
Because of the Horse...
I can be the change I wish to see 🦄💞

DAY 1
★ Understanding Spooking: A Systematic Approach for Riders
Spooking can be one of the most frustrating and confidence-knocking challenges we face as riders. It often feels unpredictable, unsafe, and hard to know whether you’re dealing with a training issue, a confidence issue, or something else entirely.
In this session, I break spookiness down in a clear, practical way. I talk you through the four main reasons horses spook, how to recognise which type you’re dealing with, and why the same approach won’t work for every horse. This isn’t about labelling your horse or blaming yourself – it’s about understanding what’s actually going on so you can make better decisions in the saddle.
If, as you’re watching, you find yourself thinking “that sounds exactly like my horse” and you’d like help applying this to your own riding, I’d love to invite you to join my 5-day free challenge. It’s a great next step if you want clear, confidence-building exercises you can start using straight away.

DAY 2
★ Riding Past Scary Objects: A Systematic Confidence-Building Approach
Getting your horse past scary objects isn’t just about surviving the moment — it’s about doing it in a way that genuinely builds confidence, not tension.
In this session, I show you how to ride past spooky objects safely while helping your horse process, relax, and come out braver on the other side. You’ll see how and when to allow your horse to look, when bending helps, why distance matters, and how to use advance-and-retreat so your horse learns instead of just coping. This is about creating calm through understanding, not forcing your way through.
If this feels like exactly the kind of situation you deal with — whether in the arena or out hacking — and you’d like help applying this step by step to your own horse, I’d love you to join my 5-day free challenge. It’s where I teach these skills in a clear, practical way you can start using straight away.
