Alexa Linton is a life-long horse lover, Equine Sport Therapist of 20 years, host of the Whole Horse Podcast, now in itβs 8th season, facilitator, author, and creator of the Whole Horse Apprenticeship, a 6 month equine wellness immersion program, the Whole Horse Collective Online Community, and most recently, Outside the Box Equine, an educational hub for species-specific horse keeping. Her vision is to support a change worldwide in horse keeping practices towards more species-specific care, ethically informed training and riding, and a more collaborative approach to being with and sharing our lives with horses.
She lives with her partner, Patrick, her four horses, two dogs, and a cat on a 5-acre property in the Cowichan Valley, where she has built an ever-evolving paddock paradise track system for her herd, Diva, Raven, Reykur, and Gwynna. Her relationship with her mare Diva is going on 23 years, and has been one of the most important of her life. Her vision is to build a horse-keeping demonstration site implementing species-specific elements that work for the Pacific Northwest, to inspire horse owners and equine practitioners in skill-building workshops and immersive retreats to shift their horse spaces by showing what is possible.

DAY 1
β Β Re-write your story with horses through understanding and praise
Join Alexa and her two mares Diva and Raven as she takes you on a behind-the-scenes look at her course Redefining Equine (hosted on Outside the Box Equine), sharing two of her favourite teachings when it comes to being with horses. The first teaching is about "going back to grazing" as a way of working with stressors and shifts for ourselves and our horses and the second sharing is all about how showering your horse with the right kind of praise can shift your connection fundamentally and how to know what kind of praise lands the best for each horse. Settle in and enjoy!
DAY 2
β Β Practical Nervous System tools to support your horses (and yourself) through herd transitions
Being with and owning horses means frequent transitions and changes - in this video from her Build a Horse Track System Online course based on Outside the Box Equine, Alexa shares some of her go-to strategies to help with settling the nervous system to allow our horses (and ourselves) to more easily adapt to change. This video specifically focuses on herd integration - how to prepare your herd for the addition of new herd mates by supporting them to be more adaptable, flexible, and resilient in the face of change. Enjoy!
