Lynn Reardon

Hi, I'm Lynn Reardon. I didn't grow up riding or showing horses — I learned as an adult, with all the awkwardness, overthinking, and deep enthusiasm that comes with being a late-blooming amateur.

Eventually, I left a corporate career to open an ex-racehorse adoption ranch, where older racehorses became my unexpected teachers. They taught me how to see more, rush less, soften sooner, and ride with the kind of feel I never thought I could learn.

Over time, I realized the real conversation between horse and rider starts long before technique. It begins with how we show up — our body language, our awareness, our ability to relax and let the horse search for the answer.

Those lessons shaped my teaching philosophy: Do less, learn more. Smile more. Keep it simple.

I now coach adult riders who want to feel confident, connected, and light in the saddle again — riders who love their horses deeply but often find themselves tense, rushed, or trying a little too hard. My work blends straightforward riding skills with the timeless principles I learned from the horses themselves (and many wonderful horsemen and horsewomen I met along the way).

This year, I'll be sharing a practical session on how to ride like a kid again — with simple tools and calm exercises that help you rediscover softness, curiosity, and joy in the saddle.

If you'd like to learn more about my journey from office life to full-time horsewoman, you can read my book Beyond the Homestretch, listen to the Horse Wise podcast, or visit horsewisecoach.com.

Because of the Horse...

I learned that it’s never too late to become who you might have been.

DAY 1

Ride Like a Kid Again (Part 1): Think Like a Kid

Adult riders often know too much — and that knowledge can turn into tension, overthinking, and pressure. In this first session of Ride Like a Kid Again, Lynn Reardon explores why riding can feel harder as we get older — and how kids approach horses with curiosity, simplicity, and trust.

Drawing from classical horsemanship, learning science, and her own experience as a late-start adult rider, Lynn shows how to prepare mentally like an adult so you can ride like a kid again. You’ll learn how to quiet the performance mindset, reframe unhelpful thought patterns, and create a calmer inner state before you ever pick up the reins.

This session sets the foundation for the entire series — helping you slow down, exhale, and reconnect with why you ride in the first place.

★ Ride Like a Kid Again (Part 2): Move Like a Kid

Kids move with freedom, balance, and adaptability — qualities that many adult riders unintentionally lose. In this second session of Ride Like a Kid Again, Lynn Reardon focuses on how movement, posture, and body awareness affect both your riding and your horse’s response.

You’ll explore simple ways to loosen your body, lower your center of gravity, and become more dynamic in the saddle — without chasing perfection. Lynn demonstrates how “doing it wrong,” staying flexible, and allowing natural movement can actually improve feel, balance, and confidence.

This session helps you reconnect with your body as an ally, not a problem to fix — so riding feels lighter, more fluid, and more enjoyable.

DAY 2

Ride Like a Kid Again (Part 3): Feel For Your Horse

Horses don’t need perfect riders — they need present ones. In this final session of Ride Like a Kid Again, Lynn Reardon brings everything together by focusing on feel, timing, and communication through simple groundwork and horsemanship principles.

You’ll learn how to shift from muscling to “surfing,” release for the smallest try, and set things up so the horse can find the answer. Lynn demonstrates foundational exercises that help horses relax, rebalance, and participate willingly — so they can become the kind of horse a kid would love to ride.

This session is about building a true conversation with your horse — one rooted in softness, awareness, and mutual confidence.
