Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling

Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling is an internationally recognized horse expert, author, and coach whose pioneering approach has inspired horse lovers around the world. Born in Germany, he brings together deep knowledge of equine behavior, body awareness, and authentic communication to create a philosophy that transcends traditional horsemanship.
Known for his non-violent and highly intuitive methods, Klaus emphasizes presence, clarity, and mutual trust as the foundation of the humanâhorse relationship. Without reliance on force or tools of control, he communicates with horses through body language and energy, often establishing an immediate connection and harmony.
His groundbreaking book Dancing with Horses introduced this philosophy to a global audience, followed by What Horses Reveal, which presented his typology of 26 horse character types. These works have become essential reading for those seeking a deeper, more respectful relationship with horses.
Beyond his contributions as an author, Klaus has developed the Body Awareness System, a holistic approach that guides both horses and humans toward balance, confidence, and authenticity. His teachings extend into leadership and personal development, showing how the wisdom of the horse can inform human life, relationships, and decision-making.
From his base in Denmark, Klaus leads courses and consultations for participants from more than 40 countries. His seminars combine practical horsemanship with profound insights into human potential, offering what he calls âa new dimensionâ of being with horses and being alive.
Through his work, Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling continues to influence the global horse community, championing trust, respect, and harmony as the path to true partnership with these noble animals.
Because of the Horse...
It is worthwhile to do what I have been able to develop and demonstrate. When one takes the side of the horses, one inevitably chooses personal development. Then one's own understanding, one's relationship to one's body and to one's diverse forms of communication come into focus. Through my very being, I replace the entire horse herd, working with the consistently free horse through body language, focused on its hindquarters, its collection and uprightness, bringing it directly to the highest expression and presence. I am absolutely non-violentâand indeed always so, to the ultimate consequence. This is only possible if I enter the world of horses, into their way of being, their communication, and interaction. I had to develop all of this completely anew. And it is very difficult to convey this to others. But I tried, and I continue to try.
