Hello! My name is Paula Curtis, and I’m the founder of Because of the Horse 💜 My horsemanship journey began in my teenage years, inspired by legendary teachers like Ray Hunt, Buck Brannaman, and Walter Zettl. Their wisdom shaped not only how I work with horses, but how I see the world.
Over the years, I’ve learned that it’s not just about knowledge it’s about the right kind of knowledge. When you learn from teachers who embody presence, awareness, and heart-centered principles, the transformation reaches far beyond horsemanship.
Horses become our greatest teachers, showing us how to release limiting patterns, focus on possibility, and step into our best selves.
I created Because of the Horse to make this wisdom accessible to riders everywhere. Through the Online Fair and Membership, I bring together some of the world’s most inspiring trainers people who share not only techniques, but the deeper lessons horses teach about life, connection, and growth.
My passion is to help horses and the people who love them in a way that feels meaningful and truly transformative. Because of the horse, I’ve learned to live more fully, love more deeply, and stay present in a world that doesn’t always encourage stillness.
