Sarah’s 2023 Presentations
What is Equine-Human Trauma Recovery - Sarah Schlote describes the paradigm shift that EQUUSOMA® Horse-Human Trauma Recovery represents. In particular, she discusses the importance of understanding trauma in equines, trauma in humans, equestrian trauma, and how all of these experiences of adversity in captivity conditions can impact the mind, nervous system, behaviour, relationships, and performance.
The Window Of Tolerance and “Faux Window” - Sarah Schlote reviews the window of tolerance model (Daniel Siegel) and its expansion of the "faux" window (Kathy Kain and Steve Terrell) in relation to equines and people.
Neuroception And The Threat Responce Cycle - Sarah Schlote provides an overview of neuroception and the threat response cycle, including trigger stacking and the importance of completing pendulations (Peter Levine), drawing concepts from the neuroscience literature, mammalian ethology, and the polyvagal theory, and how these apply to equines and humans.
7 Tips of Horse Owners - Sarah Schlote provides 7 tips for horse owners drawing from topics covered in the Equuscience™ program that she co-founded with Dr. Steve Peters. A description of the differences between the EQUUSOMA® professional training and the Equuscience™ educational offerings is also provided to help you decide which option might be right for you.
